I’ve always loved boudoir photography, but I’ve never really liked how the genre can be lumped together into something that is quite sexualised and somewhat commercialised. What I hope to create when I do my bedroom documentaries is to document more than just a body. For this session with Anny I wanted the photos to be quite moody, somber even, and moving in a way that you can’t help but wonder what her story is.
I love people from all walks of life with different stories and backgrounds and interests. I love talking to people and listening to what they have to say. Most of all, I adore people that dare to be different, deviate from the norm, find their own path and are bold and confident with their personal style. Anny is one of those people, although soft spoken and sometimes even a bit shy, it is clear that she is comfortable in her own skin. Documenting Anny was a highlight for my creative process and I left there feeling energised and excited to create more of these moody portraits.
