The mountains were calling and I had to go. I went to visit my darling friend Ilze in the beautiful coastal town of Kleinmond. Their house is right by the sea and on the border of the fynbos nature reserve. They are fortunate enough to have the beach and the mountains right on their doorstep. We had loads of tea and chats and it was really a pleasure to finally spend time with my internet friend.
Ilze is one of those people that I can just talk to for hours. We enrich each others lives with so much creative inspiration. It is really wonderful to share the same passion for photography and wanting to learn and grow together. Ilze is always ready to give advice, to support a crazy new idea and just a genuine friend when I just have to vent about the piles of work I still need to get through.
When photographers become close friends and spend a lot of time together creative juices tend to flow freely and this was exactly what happened. I was deliriously happy on the day of the shoot when I saw that there was a misty, cloudy ominous afternoon brewing. I love experimenting and trying new photography shooting techniques. I’m currently on a creative journey and on a mission to shoot more for myself and therefore attracting more like-minded clients that appreciates my style. When I saw the beautiful red oil lamp at the farm stall I just knew that this would tie in beautifully with the look that I wanted to go for with Ilze’s mini adventure.
