Travel is something that speaks to my soul. I love seeing new places, conversations with strangers and the opportunity to document my experience. Being a full time portrait and wedding photographer makes the task to pack for a 2 week trip significantly harder. How do you pack light with camera equipment? It’s simply not something that just happens. I love my Canon gear, I have all the right lenses for all the right shooting circumstances and even when I travel for a wedding it becomes quite a heavy trek. Sometimes to the extent that I would hire an assistant purely to help me carry all my things for the day.
So with this trip to Turkey I decided on a different approach. I’ve been keeping an eye on the new Fujifulm mirrorless cameras for quite some time. I was fascinated by the reviews and spoke to some of my fellow photographers that have the highest praise for these little beasts.
I decided to take the plunge and get a Fujifulm XT10 and a 35mm lens. And I decided that I will push my creativity traveling with a camera the size of the palm of my hand and an even smaller lens. (yet amazingly fast and powerful at F1.4)
So behold, here are some images created in a way I never thought possible. I loved this trip, the people, the country, the food, the music and the most life changing experiences. Here is my travel adventure stories of Istanbul, Göreme and Heybeliada.
And finally, let me introduce this little beast that made traveling light as a photographer an absolute feast. Fujifulm XT10 & 35mm 1.4.
